Review
of
our Wets Do It Again Tour We “Never
Ever in our wildest dreams” thought this was going to happen, Wet Wet
Wet back
together and we were very happy when it was finally time to pack our
suitcases
and leave for Sheffield, Manchester and both Glasgow dates. There were
only two of us Dutchies going to Sheffield, being Monique and me, but
Moos and
Erna would come and join us to do the rest of the gigs. Of course
Sheffield was very special being our.... first gig.... front
row...seeing
Wet Wet Wet back were they belong....on Graeme Duffin’s side (well I
hoped it
was because at the secret gig HE stood on the WRONG side for
me....TYPICAL :-)....and for
Monique because it was
the first time she should see all Wet’s on stage and I knew it would
blow her
away :-)
Dean
Johnson was support in Manchester (think he snatched Marti’s suit
for that one :-) and he was
brilliant and it was nice to hear him live because I have his CD so I
knew him already. Second
Glasgow support were the Cosmic Rough Riders....sorry
guys but we only heard
the last part of your session because we were a bit late but you
sounded great
and we heard from other fans that they liked you. Then the
intro music started.....curtain went down and there they were :-)....everyone They
started with SLM and had everyone singing and dancing right
from the
start, after that the new single All I Want, great song.
When they
started This Time I was thrilled as this song is one of my all
time Wets
favorites, DWTFMN was next, than Marti’s favorite
song Julia Says. After this great song came a new one Walking
On
Water and I have to admit the first time I heard this I wasn’t
that keen on
it but now I have heard Marti sing this live its become my favorite NEW
Wets
song. His voice is so warm and makes you feel so relaxed and the lyrics
and
music are just superb.....close your eyes and let it take you away. WALHFMF
their first number one, great song and the lyrics are very appropriate,
not
only to The Wets but for all friends around the world. Another thing
is....have
you ever looked closely at GD’s fingers when playing that solo
bit.....it
amazes me every time seeing how fast his fingers move on his guitar,
brilliant :-) Acoustic
set next, Gypsy Girl (don’t think the guys thought our ..la la
la la
....bit went too great with this song :-). I Don’t Want To Fight (another great new
song) and last
but definitely not least the “country”one Learn From Each Mistake,
something completely different but I do like it. Another one
of my favorite songs next (and my favorite album) High On The Happy
Side. Shame they
had to take this song out of the set list after Sheffield and they did
the same
with This Time. We were wondering why and in Glasgow I got the chance
to ask GD
about it and he said the Set List was too long because they had a
curfew at 11 pm.
Goodnight
Girl, great song
especially live were all the guys do their solo thing. ICGYE....and yes “They” can give us
everything.... love this song live especially the way it starts with
Graeme
doing that thing with his foot so you get that funky sound (sorry
don’t
know how to express it any other way, if you do... answers on my email
address :-). And of course
when Marti
says......play that NASTY GUITAR....ohhhh how I have missed that :-) Then the
last song of the night, first you see the letters LOVE on the big
screen and
then..... YEAH... LOVE IS ALL AROUND FOR WET WET WET.......they are definitely back and we love them to bits. Thanks so much guys for getting back together and you were....ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS .... can’t wait until next time so that says it all :-)
And then
Graeme Duffin :-) I think you
know that you made those days incredible special for me and I will be
forever
grateful to you and your family, don’t know what else to say but
.....THANKS SO
MUCH.... The
“BRASS”section, great to have you back guys, it wouldn’t have been the
same
without you, great job and hope to see you again next tour. Dougie
Souness, heard we are going to set up a “Silver Fox fanclub” in your
honor :-)
I think
that’s it and I hope you have enjoyed reading this review, thanks for
visiting
my web-site and I hope to see you all again next time :-) Goodbye and Take Care, Monique van Spellen, Erna van Andel, Monique Van Arkel (Moos) and Willemina Snijders |
